Last week we adopted Little King Trashmouth the Pirate. This sweet old Pekin duck came to us from a pretty bad situation in which he had been locked in a small cage with a rooster. Yikes!
Of course, Shara has a hard time saying "no" to an animal that needs a home so she drove out to pick up Little King. However, it was only upon arrival back at Snoot Farms that we learned Little King was actually a "he" and not a "she"!
Our sanctuary is all female with the exception of one wethered lamb, so this could prove to be tricky putting a drake in the big coop with five hens. Drakes are notoriously, er, feisty around females.
After a short standoff that lasted about two weeks, the hens have reluctantly welcomed him in. We're so glad because he's a pretty amazing old guy... at least we think he's old. He is missing one eye and is a little clumsy, but just so sweet to have around. He is enjoying being around his new duck friends!
Names that Little King does NOT respond to:
Little King, Trash, The Trashman, Trashmouth, any other name really.
